Wicket is the name given to the three vertical wooden sticks, or stumps, that are placed at the end of the cricket pitch. These stumps hold two different bails, and it is a fundamental part of the game.
They are usually built out of wood from an ash tree. Taking into consideration the size of an average ash tree, as a matter of example, just Robert Penn’s ash tree was able to produce a dozen cricket stumps, plus bails.
