Ash trees have long played an important role in our lives from the Stone Age to modern day. In Norse mythology the ash is the tree that represents Yggdrasil, the tree of life, with its tall branches reaching up into the heavens and its vast root system spread deep below the Earth. The ash was the tree said to span the universe, linking worlds, and when you see how tall and graceful they are in the photos below you can see how these myths are made.
